There are lots of things you absolutely should do before you commit to getting a Boxer. First of all, ask yourself if you are a Boxer person. Do you want a playful dog with energy and personality, or do you want a dog that is calm and laid back? If you aren't interested in a high energy buddy for life, then the Boxer is not the breed for you. Seek elsewhere! (Try Labradors or Basset Hounds, they're wonderfully laid back)

Boxers love their people...all of their people. They love "Mom" and "Dad". They love the children. They love your other four legged children. They will love the entire family. It is for this reason that you must be ready and willing to include your Boxer in your family activities. If you aren't ready for that, be prepared for the saddest thing ever: a depressed Boxer. Or better yet, seek elsewhere, because the Boxer is not the breed for you. (Try cats, they aren't so needy)
